You have a 67 million budget to buy 8 American Football Teams of which you think are going to win the most points in Fantasy NFL 2016/2017.

The season from the NFL exists out of 2 parts: the regular season and the playoffs. The teams are divided in two conferences (American Football and National Football) and both conferences are divided in 4 divisions (North, East, South and West). In the regular season the teams play 16 matches: each team plays each of the other three teams in their own division twice (one home and one away). In addition, a team plays against all four teams in one other division within the conference, on a 3-year rotation; and one division from the opposite conference, on a 4-year rotation. Two games on a team's schedule are against the two teams in the team's own conference in the divisions the team was not set to play who finished the previous season in the same rank in their division (e.g. the team which finished first in its division the previous season would play each other team in their conference that also finished first in its respective division).

After 16 matches there will be a ranking. Within each conference, the four division winners and the two wild card teams (the top two non-division winners with the best overall regular season records) qualified for the playoffs. The four division winners are seeded 1 through 4 based on their overall won-lost-tied record, and the wild card teams are seeded 5 and 6. The NFL does not use a fixed bracket playoff system, and there are no restrictions regarding teams from the same division matching up in any round. In the first round, dubbed the wild-card playoffs or wild-card weekend, the third-seeded division winner hosts the sixth seed wild card, and the fourth seed hosts the fifth. The 1 and 2 seeds from each conference then receive a bye in the first round. In the second round, the divisional playoffs, the number 1 seed hosts the worst surviving seed from the first round (seed 4, 5 or 6), while the number 2 seed will play the other team (seed 3, 4 or 5). The two surviving teams from each conference's divisional playoff games then meet in the respective AFC and NFC Conference Championship games, hosted by the higher seed. Although the Super Bowl, the fourth and final round of the playoffs, is played at a neutral site, the designated home team is based on an annual rotation by conference.

For the Fantasy NFL you can win per match points during the regular season. You get 2 points per win, 0 points when you lose and 1 point for a draw. When a team reaches the playoffs you can earn points for every round it survives. When a team reaches the playoffs (bye also counts), it scores 3 points, when a team reached the divisional playoffs you win another 5 points etc.

An example based upon the 2014/2015 season: The Green Bay Packers win in the regular season 12 matches and lose 4 matches. In the regular season the Packers score 12 x 2 plus 4 x 0 = 24 points. The Packers will reach as divisional winner the wild card playoffs in the National Conference. They will get already 3 points for reaching the playoffs. In the wild card playoffs have a bye which means they go directly through to the next round. For reaching the divisional playoffs they will get 5 points. In the divisional playoff they beat the Dallas Cowboys and qualified for the NFC Championship. In the NFC Championship they lost from the Seattle Seahawks. The Packers scored in total 24 plus 3 plus 5 plus 8 = 40 points for your team.
